Abstract In this paper, we propose a visual servoing of the orientation of a camera mounted on a robot, using human eye movements. The aimed domain is the remote survey of sensitive sites or the intervention in contaminated nuclear sites. Visual data stemmed from an eye-tracker, providing the direction of the look of an operator, is generally noisy and sometimes inconsistent. Filtering, smoothing and stabilizing this eye-tracker data are thus necessary in order to move the camera in the direction speciied by the operator's eye. The visual servoing control scheme, as well as experimental results, are also presented.

Have Patience with Your Eye Mouse! Eye- Gaze Interaction with Computers Can Work
Using eye-gaze to create a usable “eye mouse” has long been a goal of humancomputer interaction research. The appeal and advantages of eye-gaze can be summarised by the four main aspects of the modality: Firstly eye-gaze has the potential to be a very natural form of interaction, as people tend to look at the object they wish to interact with. Secondly the speed of eye-gaze to locate an object ...
متن کاملHead movements evoked by electrical stimulation in the frontal eye field of the monkey: evidence for independent eye and head control.
When the head is free to move, electrical stimulation in the frontal eye field (FEF) evokes eye and head movements. However, it is unclear whether FEF stimulation-evoked head movements contribute to shifting the line of sight, like visually guided coordinated eye-head gaze shifts. Here we investigated this issue by systematically varying initial eye (IEP) and head (IHP) positions at stimulation...
متن کاملAutomated Analysis of Mutual Gaze in Human Conversational Pairs
Mutual gaze arises from the interaction of the gaze behavior of two individuals. It is an important part of all face-to-face social interactions, including verbal exchanges. In order for humanoid robots to interact more naturally with people, they need internal models that allow them to produce realistic social gaze behavior. The approach taken in this work is to collect data from human convers...
متن کاملNeural basis of visually guided head movements studied with fMRI.
We used event-related fMRI to measure brain activity while subjects performed saccadic eye, head, and gaze movements to visually presented targets. Two distinct patterns of response were observed. One set of areas was equally active during eye, head, and gaze movements and consisted of the superior and inferior subdivisions of the frontal eye fields, the supplementary eye field, the intrapariet...
متن کاملBrain stem omnipause neurons and the control of combined eye-head gaze saccades in the alert cat.
When the head is unrestrained, rapid displacements of the visual axis-gaze shifts (eye-re-space)-are made by coordinated movements of the eyes (eye-re-head) and head (head-re-space). To address the problem of the neural control of gaze shifts, we studied and contrasted the discharges of omnipause neurons (OPNs) during a variety of combined eye-head gaze shifts and head-fixed eye saccades execut...
